Smudges, stains, and marks on this equipment may be removed by dusting and moist cleaning, but germs will remain. To maintain these devices clean and in good condition, there are specific cleaning methods that must be followed. Here are some pointers and strategies for maintaining the cleanliness of your office supplies.


Cleaning office equipment is essential for maintaining a healthy and productive work environment. Here are some tips and tricks to effectively clean various types of office equipment:


1.) Keyboards and Mouse:

  • Use compressed air or a small vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust and debris from between the keys of keyboards.

  • Wipe down keyboards and mouse with disinfectant wipes or a cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to sanitize surfaces.

  • For stubborn stains or grime, use a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean hard-to-reach areas. 2.) Monitors and Screens:

  • Turn off monitors and screens before cleaning to prevent damage.

  • Use a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with water or a screen cleaning solution to gently wipe the screen in a circular motion.

  • Avoid using paper towels or abrasive cleaners, as they can scratch the screen. 3.) Printers and Copiers:

  • Turn off the printer or copier and unplug it from the power source before cleaning.

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces, removing dust and fingerprints.

  • For paper feed rollers and printer trays, use compressed air or a lint-free cloth dampened with water to remove dirt and debris. 4.) Telephones:

  • Use disinfectant wipes or a cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean the handset, keypad, and base of the telephone.

  • Pay special attention to areas where dirt and grime tend to accumulate, such as around buttons and in crevices.

  • Allow the telephone to air dry completely before using it again. 5.) Desks and Workstations:

  • Clear the desk of clutter and remove any items before cleaning.

  • Wipe down the desk surface with a disinfectant cleaner or a mixture of mild soap and water.

  • Use a microfiber cloth to dry the surface thoroughly and prevent streaks. 6.) Headsets and Earpieces:

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces of headsets and earpieces, removing dust and dirt.

  • For removable ear cushions, follow manufacturer instructions for cleaning or replacement.

  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners or submerging headsets in water. 7.) Document Scanners:

  • Turn off the scanner and unplug it from the power source before cleaning.

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces, removing dust and fingerprints.

  • Use compressed air or a lint-free cloth dampened with water to clean the scanner glass and remove any smudges or debris. 8.) Office Chairs:

  • Vacuum fabric chairs to remove dust and debris, and spot clean stains with upholstery cleaner as needed.

  • Wipe down leather or vinyl chairs with a damp cloth and mild soap, followed by a dry cloth to prevent water spots.
